Literature Text

This hour, my head is abuzz
with words living on stray thoughts,
and thoughts sighing at sprung
fortitude, where time bleeds
into my skin: but I don’t have scars yet
to prove my knowledge.
All the things we will be,

we are not yet;

i
not yet a missing advertisement:
printed on a milk carton
that cannot contain our happiness,
with an expiration date that’s delayed.

ii
not a hand with etched destiny:
the lines in my palm are being misread,
because they’re just random scars
from quarrelling through letters.

iii
not gardens in winter:
snow warmly blanketing the bed,
like darling children, frowning
at climbers and creepers.

We are not yet together;

not warm whispers, but spoken embraces:
and they don’t leave marks on clear glass.
This one's for ~tasfia. I rarely write poetry about things close to me. But when I'm in the mood, I produce work in quantity. Hope the quality sticks too.

Edit
I've decided to add in a short explanation to avoid questions about the work.

i is about running away. ii is starting a new shared destiny. iii is about sowing seeds; you know what I mean.

Interpret it however else you wish though. This one guy once interpreted a sociopolitical poem I wrote about war as a poem about a sadomasochist relationship. It was an interesting comment, to say the least :lol:

Enjoy =)
